When You Feel Unequipped: Encouragement for the Overwhelmed Mom or Educator

Posted on May 29, 2025May 21, 2025 by Krissy

There are moments in every mom’s and teacher’s journey when we feel like we’re not enough. The meltdown in the grocery store. The lesson that didn’t land. The diagnosis we don’t fully understand. In these moments, the enemy whispers: “You can’t do this.”

But here’s the truth: You were never meant to do it alone. And you’re not here by accident. God placed you in your child’s or student’s life for a reason—and He equips those He calls.

You’re Not Alone in Feeling This Way

If you’ve ever felt:
– Like you don’t know the right words
– Afraid you’re not doing enough
– Guilty for being tired, frustrated, or unsure

You are not alone. Parenting and teaching neurodivergent children often involves navigating extra appointments, unique behaviors, misunderstood needs, and a world that doesn’t always offer grace. It’s okay to feel weary—it doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you’re human.

God Doesn’t Call the Equipped—He Equips the Called

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9

You don’t have to be a therapist, specialist, or expert. Your love, your patience, your willingness to learn—those are powerful tools in the hands of our Creator. And when you feel weak, that’s when God’s strength shines brightest.

Five Faith-Filled Resets for Overwhelmed Days

1. Breathe and Pray – Take five deep breaths. Whisper a prayer: “Lord, help me see this child the way You do.”
2. Simplify – You don’t have to do it all today. What are the top three things that matter most right now?
3. Phone a Friend – Reach out to someone who understands, even if just to say, “Today is hard.”
4. Get Outside – A 10-minute walk can clear your head and reset your spirit.
5. Speak Truth – Say out loud: “God chose me for this child. I am not alone.”

Dear Mom, Dear Teacher…

You were chosen. Not by accident, not as a last resort. You were appointed to be a vessel of grace in the life of a child who needs it.

You might not have all the answers, but you have the heart. And with God, that is more than enough.

So on the days you feel overwhelmed, take a deep breath. Whisper His name. And remember: you are doing holy work, even when it feels messy, loud, or unseen.

Scripture to Hold Onto

“Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9
